Position Summary
The Senior Systems Engineer is responsible for the maintenance, upgrade, and management of Webb Fontaine's production and R&D infrastructure, administrative software, hardware, and networks. The candidate must be detail-oriented and a confident team player, able to diagnose and resolve problems quickly, with extensive knowledge of the deployment, configuration control, architecture, and security of web applications and their hosting environments. The goal is to ensure that our technology infrastructure runs smoothly and efficiently. The Systems Engineer is also responsible for continuously assessing and evolving the infrastructure to optimize performance through existing or new technology, automation, and process improvement. At Webb Fontaine, Systems Engineers operate in a multinational, multicultural environment, managing complex on-premises, cloud, and hybrid data centers across multiple continents, and report directly to the Director of IT Infrastructure.
Key responsibilities
Design, deploy, and manage Linux (RedHat) and Windows server technologies, on-premise and in
the cloud (Azure/AWS/GCP), including VMware and physical hardware.
Serve as subject matter expert on high-performance storage hardware solutions, Fibre Channel SAN fabrics, and NAS solutions, including replication to DR sites.
Implement and manage high-performance, highly available, secure, and scalable enterprise storage solutions, including SAN, NAS, and Hyper-Converged Infrastructure (HCI) technologies.
Design, implement, manage, and monitor physical infrastructure, ensuring hardware and software compliance with company standards, and optimize enterprise-wide architecture to meet availability and capacity needs.
Install, manage, and troubleshoot VMware vSphere 6.7/7.0.
Design and manage systems in multi-datacenter environments, including HA/DR design.
Coordinate and perform system patching for ESXi hosts.
Administer Active Directory, including Group Policies, DNS, DHCP, ADFS, and Certificate Authority.
Contribute to cloud system architecture and design.
Create and maintain SOPs and comprehensive technical documentation for all systems above.
Plan and execute complex, interdependent activities across both IT systems and people-based processes.
Lead system architecture, design, maintenance, and OS upgrade projects.
Manage storage infrastructure, including SAN, NAS, iSCSI, FC, SAS, and NFS technologies.
Design and implement process automation to optimize operations and performance.
Evaluate and apply AI-driven tools and techniques (e.g., AIOps, predictive monitoring, anomaly detection, intelligent capacity planning) to optimize infrastructure operations and performance.
Explore and implement integrations using the Model Context Protocol (MCP) and similar frameworks to connect AI/LLM-based tools with infrastructure systems for automated monitoring, diagnostics, and operational tasks.
Participate in on-call rotation and respond to after-hours alerts.
Work independently as well as collaboratively within a team, managing multiple operational issues simultaneously in a group environment.

Qualifications
BS or MS in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
Strong, demonstrated administrative experience with RedHat Linux and Windows.
Strong scripting/automation skills for administrative tasks.
Solid networking knowledge, including LAN/WAN, OSI layers, TCP/IP, VLANs, switching, and routing.
Knowledge of system security (e.g., intrusion detection systems) and data backup/recovery.
Cloud experience required in at least one of AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud.
Demonstrated experience supporting core services (DNS, DHCP, web server, proxy, mail, NTP, antivirus, SSL certificates).
Experience with various file hosting services.
Strong experience with virtualization solutions, especially VMware.
Experience managing enterprise-wide data backup and recovery.
Experience with security/vulnerability tools, implementation, and configuration.
Knowledge of OpenLDAP and Active Directory.
Experience implementing Single Sign-On (SAML and OAuth).
Experience with configuration management tools (Ansible).
Strong experience with containerization and orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes).
Experience with monitoring systems (Nagios, Zabbix, PagerDuty).
Experience with the ELK stack is a plus.
Demonstrated experience and knowledge of Artificial Intelligence/Machine Learning tools and techniques applied to infrastructure operations optimization (e.g., AIOps platforms, predictive scaling, intelligent alerting/anomaly detection).
Demonstrated experience with the Model Context Protocol (MCP) or similar standards for connecting AI agents/LLMs to infrastructure and operational tooling is a strong plus.
Fluent in English is required, Fluent in French
