Position Summary

We are looking for a motivated, detail-oriented, and proactive Technical Support Engineer to join our team and provide on-site technical support for the Nepal National Single Window System (owned by Nepal Customs).

This role is not a call-center position. It requires hands-on technical work, understanding system behavior, performing configuration changes, analyzing issues, and collaborating with development teams to ensure smooth system operation.

The system is a large-scale, microservices-based platform primarily written in Java, so the ideal candidate should have a solid understanding of backend systems, troubleshooting techniques, and the willingness to learn or improve Java skills.

Location: On-site (Nepal)
Engagement: Long-term collaboration

Key responsibilities

• Provide on-site technical support for the Nepal National Single Window system.
• Investigate, diagnose, and resolve technical issues related to application behavior, backend services, and infrastructure.
• Perform system configuration adjustments, parameter tuning, and environment-level updates.
• Monitor the health of microservices and environments using tools such as Grafana, Kibana, and internal dashboards.
• Troubleshoot basic networking issues, connectivity, and configuration problems.
• Work with logs, SQL queries, and system metrics to identify root causes.
  
• Work closely with distributed development teams to verify issues, apply patches, and support deployments.
• Assist in testing and validating bug fixes and new releases.
• Optional but highly valued: contribute small code fixes or enhancements (Java/Microservices).

Qualifications

• Understanding of Relational Databases, especially PostgreSQL.
• Ability to write and run custom SQL queries for troubleshooting.
• Basic knowledge of Linux, terminal commands, and server environments.
• Familiarity with monitoring and logging tools such as Grafana and Kibana.
• Basic understanding of networking concepts (DNS, IP, connectivity, proxies).
• Familiarity with JasperReports or similar reporting frameworks.
• Good command of English (written and spoken).
• Ability to learn complex systems and think analytically.

Nice-to-have qualifications (if required)

• Knowledge of Java and the ability to perform simple code reviews or small fixes.
• Experience with microservices architecture.
• Background in enterprise systems, integration platforms, or government systems.
• Strong problem-solving and communication skills.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
• Proactive mindset and willingness to acquire new technical skills.
